What We Do

What We Do

Two ways we fight for survivors and win.

The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation provides two core services, both at no cost to the people we serve: direct claims advocacy for survivors whose claims have been denied or delayed, and insurance education so communities are prepared before disaster strikes.
We don’t sell insurance.
We don’t work for carriers.
We don’t charge for services.

SERVICE 1

Claims Advocacy

We assist to appeal denied and delayed insurance claims at no cost.

If your insurance company has denied your claim, underpaid your claim, or simply stopped responding, The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation steps in alongside you. We review your policy, document your losses, and help write the strongest possible appeal letter. We know the language insurers use to delay or deny and we know how to fight back.

Your participation is essential.

This is collaborative process not a handoff. We bring the expertise; you bring your knowledge of your own situation, your documents, and your commitment to see it through. That’s what makes it work.

Policy Review

We read the fine print and identify coverage you may not know you have.

Letter Preparation

We assist you in drafting and submitting well crafted letters with supporting documentation tailored to your situation.

Carrier Communication

We help you navigate communications with your insurer so you’re never facing them alone.

ALE & Loss-Of-Use Guidance

We help survivors understand and maximize Additional Living Expense coverage while displaced.

how the advocacy process works

From your first call to a resolved claim

STEP 1

Intake Consultation

We listen to your situation, review your denial or delay, and assess your coverage – no charge, no commitment.

STEP 2

Policy & claim analysis

We dig into your policy language, loss documentation, and insurer correspondence to identify a viable path forward.

STEP 3

Advocacy

We help craft letters that specify specific clauses in your policy, assist you in sending the letter, assist with carrier communication, and escalate to the CA Dept of Insurance (if necessary).

STEP 4

Resolution

We stay with you through the outcome – we expect you to receive the money you are contractually owed.

SERVICE 2

Insurance Education

We teach communities what their policies actually cover – before they find out the hard way.

Most people don’t understand their insurance until they need to file a claim. By then, it’s too late to fix gaps. The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation offers no-cost, plain-language insurance education workshops, one-on-one sessions, and take-home resources so individuals and families can make informed decisions, document their property, and know their rights as policyholders.

Education only works if you engage with it.

We make the material as clear and accessible as possible but understanding your coverage takes your active participation. The tine you put in now will make a big difference when you need to file a claim.
