About Us

About Us

We exist because survivors deserve a fighter in their corner.

The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides no-cost, unbiased insurance claims advocacy and education to natural disaster and wildfire survivors across California.

When an insurance company denies or delays a legitimate claim, most survivors don’t know where to turn – or can’t afford the help they need. We exist to change that.

Our Story

The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation was born from a simple, infuriating truth: insurance companies have entire departments dedicated to minimizing pay outs – and most policyholders have no one on their side.

Founded in 2026 in the wake of California’s ongoing wildfire crisis, The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation was built by insurance professionals who saw firsthand what happens when survivors are left to fight alone. Claims get denied on technicalities. ALE coverage runs out. Families live in motels for years while their insurer stalls.

The Insurance Sanctuary Foundation provides what most survivors can’t access: licensed insurance expertise, time, and a willingness to assist at no cost, no judgment, regardless of the current carrier.

True Advocacy

We create safe spaces where insurance becomes accessible, understandable, and navigable for all. Through compassionate advocacy and plain-language education, we close the insurance literacy gap and ensure every person – regardless of income, carrier, or circumstance – can access the coverage and care they deserve with dignity, confidence, and belonging.

“We’ve seen what the fine print does to real people. We decided to do something about it.”

Our Values

What guides everything we do

Always on your side

We are not affiliated with any insurance carrier. We work exclusively for policyholders — full stop.

Dignity in every interaction

Disaster survivors have already lost enough. We meet people with respect, patience, and zero judgment.

Education is power

We translate the fine print into plain language so survivors understand their rights and can advocate for themselves.

Equity-centered access

We prioritize communities that have historically been underserved by the insurance system.

Radical transparency

No hidden fees, no upselling, no referral commissions. Our funding comes from donors, not from the claims we handle.

Justice without a deductible

The system favors those who can pay for help. We exist to make that advantage available to everyone.
