Maranda Sherrod
About the Book
Will Yourself to Lift is a deeply personal reflection on what it means to move through life’s hardest seasons, what Maranda Sherrod calls “the valley.” It’s that quiet, disorienting place where fear feels louder than faith, and even small steps forward can feel exhausting.
Instead of offering quick solutions, the book leans into something simpler and harder: daily endurance. Sherrod writes about rebuilding will through small, intentional choices, learning to acknowledge pain, taking one day at a time, and slowly lifting your eyes toward “the hills,” where strength and clarity begin to return.
Rooted in lived experience and supported by scripture, the book carries the weight of real trials and the quiet discipline of survival. It reads like a steady voice beside you in a difficult season, reminding you that even when everything feels uncertain, the climb is still possible.
About the Author
Maranda Sherrod
Maranda Sherrod was raised in Bigbee, Valley, Mississippi, as the middle child in a family of seven. Her upbringing was grounded in faith, shaped by close-knit family life, church rhythms, and the kind of everyday resilience that quietly builds character over time.
Her life later unfolded through both achievement and adversity. She built a career in accounting and education before facing a series of severe health challenges, including pre-eclampsia, Stage 3 sarcoidosis, and relapsing pericarditis that required two open-heart surgeries. These experiences reshaped her path and paused much of the life she had planned.
During long seasons of recovery, she turned to scripture and writing as anchors, documenting thoughts that would eventually become Will Yourself to Lift. Today, she continues her work through community initiatives and writing that reflects lived faith, steady, honest, and unembellished.
Her story carries a simple thread throughout: even when life forces you down, there is still a way to rise.

What Readers Often Carry with Them
Many readers say the book helps them reconnect with a quiet strength they forgot was there, the ability to keep moving even when circumstances refuse to cooperate.
Rather than rushing past hardship, the book encourages readers to understand the valley as part of life’s rhythm, something to walk through with patience, not panic.
Sherrod’s reflections gently point readers back toward faith as a daily practice, not a general idea. Small moments. Small prayers. A steady climb.
Through personal trials and biblical stories, readers often find new ways to think about grief, setbacks, and the slow process of rebuilding.
Perhaps the most common takeaway is simple: the reminder that tomorrow’s strength begins with today’s small decision to rise.
Ready to Begin the Climb?
